Barrett & Stokely Asset Management is a joint venture between Barrett & Stokely, Inc. and Cornerstone Companies, Inc. This collaboration originated in the late 1980’s and combines the management expertise of Barrett & Stokely with the leasing and development expertise of Cornerstone Companies and its principal, Bob Whitacre. The joint venture manages and leases a total of 19 medical office buildings including several featuring outpatient surgery centers, diagnostic centers, imaging centers and endoscopy centers.

Barrett & Stokely Asset Management’s approach to full service asset management underlies our commitment to long-term client relationships. We believe that excellence can only be achieved when asset performance and risk management are combined with servicing our owners at the highest possible level. It goes far beyond just the day-to-day managing of an asset, though this is an integral part of our job. Our goal is to add value by offering an on-going risk-controlled evaluation of a specific asset’s performance combined with providing our owners and their real estate with exceptional management services.

Where we feel we differ from other management companies is that we have years of experience working with owners that are also tenants in the building that they own. This may very well be the most demanding type of environment because owner/tenants have an opportunity to critique how well we are doing our job all day, everyday. It is because of this experience that we have adopted a philosophy of managing properties from the owner’s perspective; that is, to manage as if we are the owner. We have a unique team of individuals assembled that allow owners to call on the expertise of two companies (Cornerstone Companies, Inc. & Barrett & Stokely, Inc.) to maximize the financial performance of each asset.

Our growth in asset management has been built upon referrals and reputation. The history of Cornerstone Companies and Barrett & Stokely is an unbroken series of successful projects. As a result of our reputation for credit, development and management, our medical facility portfolio has continued to grow rapidly. However, there will always be a “small company” feel to our asset management team. As problems, issues or questions arise with an asset, there will be one point of contact at Barrett & Stokely Asset Management. One of our goals is to make every owner feel like they are our only client. We are dedicated to work closely with all of our owners toward the maximization of the value of their real estate asset.
